Black Owned Brockton, in collaboration with Dupes Did It Music, is excited to unveil a groundbreaking initiative designed to empower residents of Brockton, Massachusetts, and St. Lucia through education and skill development. Powered by Google, this program offers 400 scholarships for Google Certification Programs, equipping participants with the tools to secure entry-level digital jobs in high-demand fields.
Launched in 2020 as Brockton’s first Black business advocacy organization and social impact venture, Black Owned Brockton has grown from a simple Instagram page into a transformative movement. Its mission is to foster a supportive, collaborative environment where Black-owned businesses and the community can connect, thrive, and drive purposeful engagement.
The initiative is further enriched by the involvement of Sherwinn “Dupes” Brice, a St. Lucian American singer and songwriter, who champions the importance of celebrating Black-owned businesses while opening pathways for personal and professional growth. By offering free access to Google’s sought-after certification programs, this project eliminates barriers to career advancement and positions participants for success in the digital economy.
Participants can choose from certifications in UX Design, Digital Marketing, Project Management, Data Analysis, and Cybersecurity, all tailored to meet the needs of today’s fast-evolving job market. These programs provide a unique opportunity for residents of Brockton and St. Lucia to acquire practical skills and credentials that can unlock future employment opportunities.
