Almost four dozen Charles City High School seniors will share in almost $48,000 in scholarships to continue their education after graduation later this month.
Scholarships were handed out last Wednesday (04.30) night through the Charles City Area Dollars for Scholars program, which Board President Kathy Herrick recently told KCHA/KCZE news, continues a strong tradition established in recent years.
Scholarships awarded this year amount to a total $47,650, which averages to just over $1,000 per student, all awarded based on criteria calculated through an anonymous “blind” application review process, according to Board member Kim Wendel.
Herrick adds that, over the last 10-plus years, every student who has successfully completed an application has been awarded a scholarship.
