BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – Five students from Bruneian universities have been awarded the prestigious Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) for the 2024-2025 academic session, as announced by the Canadian High Commission in Brunei.
Among the recipients, three are from Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), and two from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). The UTB awardees include Nurul Izzatullah binti Awang and Nurul Iffah Adriana Izzati @ Wafa Liyan, who will study Fashion Design & Technology at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Vancouver, British Columbia. Mohammad Amirul Hakim bin Haji Shamli from UTB will pursue his Electrical & Electronic Engineering course at Memorial University in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
From UBD, Nicky Lapira, a Business Administration student, and Mohammad Nirwan Nizam bin A. Hamidun, a Health Science in Nursing student, will also attend Memorial University in Newfoundland.

The High Commissioner of Canada in Brunei, Ambra Dickie, encouraged the students to work hard and take full advantage of the excellent educational opportunities available within Canada’s world-class educational system. “I also hope the students take some time to discover and experience the diverse range of activities and adventures Canada offers our international students,” she added.
The students will spend between four to six months in Canada, either during the Fall 2024 or Winter 2025 semesters.
