WILLIAMSBURG — The Junior Woman’s Club of Williamsburg will hold its 59th annual Art on the Square on Sunday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. along Duke of Gloucester Street in Colonial Williamsburg.
The juried art show will feature 100 fine artists showcasing and selling their work, ranging from pottery and paintings to jewelry and ceramics, the organization said, and visitors can shop a wide variety of handcrafted pieces while supporting artists from across the region and beyond.
Gulay Berryman returns as this year’s featured artist, presenting her original painting, “St. George Tucker House,” which will be raffled off at the event.
Raffle tickets can be purchased online and at the JWCW tent during the event. Commemorative poster prints of the painting will also be available to purchase.
Proceeds from artist booth fees, raffle ticket and poster sales benefit visual and performing arts organizations in the greater Williamsburg area, JWCW said, including the club’s Richard E. DePaul Memorial Scholarship for Visual and Performing Arts, which supports students pursuing college degrees in the arts. Scholarship applications are open through April 29.
“We’re thrilled to be back on DoG Street for this year’s Art on the Square,” said Kristin Barr, president of JWCW. “The event brings together creativity and community, showcasing original, handcrafted art while supporting visual and performing arts initiatives throughout Williamsburg. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or simply looking for a nice day out, this event has something for you.”
Nora Bartlett of Walls Alive, an in-kind sponsor, will offer special framing pricing for Art on the Square posters, the club added. Customers who mention the club in-store will have a portion of their framing sale donated to JWCW.
Art on the Square is free and open to the public.
