65 Pleasanton Students Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists – Patch

PLEASANTON, CA — 65 students who attend school in Pleasanton were named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced. This marks the highest number in the Tri-Valley and one of the highest in the Bay Area.
The students joined more than 16,000 students in the running to be named a National Merit Scholar, and receive a $2500 scholarship to help them further their educations. Students from this same list may be offered scholarships from colleges, universities and their parents’ employers.
The following semifinalists in Pleasanton received PSAT/NMSQT exam scores high enough to place them in the top one percent of US high school seniors:
Amador Valley High School
Foothill High School
Nearby, 16 student in Danville were named semifinalists; 50 in San Ramon, 34 in Dublin, and 10 in Livermore.
