The Flinn Foundation has selected 78 Flinn Scholarship Semifinalists to advance in the process to earn Arizona’s most competitive merit-based college scholarship.
The Flinn Scholarship, now in its 40th year, is valued at more than $135,000 and provides a full ride covering tuition, housing, meals, and at least two study abroad experiences in partnership with Arizona’s public universities.
The 20 Arizona high-school seniors ultimately selected for the award will attend Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, or the University of Arizona beginning this fall.
The Flinn Foundation will announce the Flinn Scholars Class of 2025 in late April.
The 2025 Semifinalists were selected based on their academic achievement, leadership and service, and personal characteristics from more than 1,100 applications submitted in October. The Semifinalists not named Flinn Scholars receive a $15,000 per year scholarship if they choose to attend one of the state’s three public universities.
“To be named a Flinn Scholarship Semifinalist is an extraordinary accomplishment for an Arizona student who has been successful in the classroom and a leader in their school and community,” said Anne Lassen, Flinn Foundation vice president, scholarship and education initiatives. “We look forward to our two days of interviews later this month where we can learn more about their talents, character, and goals.”
This year’s 78 Semifinalists attend 62 high schools from 11 of Arizona’s 15 counties, a mix of traditional public, charter, private, and online schools.
The Semifinalists will participate in virtual interviews Jan. 22 and 23. About half of the students will advance as Flinn Scholarship Finalists and interview in-person at the Flinn Foundation in March before the program’s five-person Selection Committee.
