TROY, Ala. — The Troy Alumni Chapter (TAC) of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. will host its Fifth Annual Scholarship Breakfast on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 9 a.m. celebrating education, excellence, and community impact. The event will take place at Troy University’s Trojan Center Ballroom. This year, TAC will award $8,000 in scholarships to eight incoming Troy University freshmen, reinforcing its commitment to academic achievement and leadership.
Dr. Linda Felton-Smith, a Troy native and esteemed educator with over 45 years of service, will serve as the keynote speaker. A true hometown hero, Dr. Felton-Smith began her career as a substitute teacher in Pike County and Troy City schools before embarking on an amazing journey that includes roles as a principal, superintendent, consultant, and now Director of The Ivey Center at Troy University.
Dr. Felton-Smith holds degrees from Alabama State University, Troy University, Auburn University, and Auburn University-Montgomery. Her dedication to lifelong learning and passion for empowering preK-12 students have made her a sought-after speaker and advocate for equitable educational opportunities.

“We are honored to have Dr. Felton-Smith as our keynote speaker,” said Alvin Tucker, Polemarch of the Troy Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. “Her contributions to education and her unwavering commitment to our community inspire us all. Her presence at this event underscores the importance of giving back and investing in our future leaders.”
Tickets for the Scholarship Breakfast are available for a $25 donation and can be purchased ahead of time by contacting Scholarship Committee Co-Chair, Jerome Solomon at (313) 522-3135, or at the door the day of the event.
