Eleven of the 92 are military recruits going into the Air Force, Navy, Marines, Army, or Merchant Marine Academy.
“The Class of 2025 has truly raised the bar,” said School Board Vice President Mike Walker who emceed the event. “This class has been offered more scholarships from colleges than any class in the past three school years, an extraordinary accomplishment.”
The Class of 2025 was celebrated in an awards ceremony at the Carson City Community Center where scholarships were presented for more than two hours.
“Our students will be attending a wide range of prestigious institutions including USC, with a full-ride scholarship; Lehigh University; Utah Tech; Salem College with a full ride; the Merchant Marine Academy; University of New Mexico; Wooster College; BYU Provo; BYU Idaho; Montana State; Oregon State; Bushnell University; UNLV; and, of course, our local Tier I institution UNR,” Walker said.
Walker said there’s more.
“In an inspiring and unprecedented trend, many of our students are also pursuing careers in the skilled trades, beginning their journeys at Western Nevada College and TMCC,” Walker said. “This shows the span of talent and vision within this class, and it’s a testament to how Carson City celebrates all post-secondary paths.”
