YPSILANTI — Eastern Michigan University is participating in the Michigan Achievement Scholarship opportunity, providing significant financial assistance to Michigan high school graduates. The scholarship is designed to make higher education more accessible and affordable, encouraging more students to pursue their academic goals at institutions like EMU.
“At Eastern Michigan University, we are unwavering in our commitment to supporting Michigan students in their pursuit of higher education,” said University Vice President for Enrollment Management Katie Condon. “The Michigan Achievement Scholarship is a vital resource that can help alleviate the financial burden of college and open doors for many students who might otherwise find it difficult to pursue their academic aspirations.”
The Michigan Achievement Scholarship is a substantial financial aid program, providing up to $5,500 annually to public university students. The scholarship is renewable and available to undergraduate students who graduate from a Michigan high school with a diploma, certificate of completion, or high school equivalency certificate from 2023 onward.
To qualify, students must demonstrate financial need by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Additional details can be found on the Michigan Student Scholarships and Grants website.
Despite the potential of the Michigan Achievement Scholarship, the number of recipients last year fell short of state projections. State officials anticipated that approximately 41,000 students would benefit from the scholarship in its inaugural year. However, data reported in December 2023 showed that only 25,433 students received the scholarship.
