With 147 years of dedicated service to Indiana communities, The Farmers Bank will award its first-ever scholarship in the Westfield community and recognize the best and brightest graduating from Westfield High School (WHS) this academic year.
Just a few months ago on Jan. 10, The Farmers Bank announced the establishment of an endowment with the Westfield Educational Foundation.
Committed to investing in education, The Farmers Bank is particularly focused on supporting WHS graduates pursuing careers in finance, accounting, or business. The bank firmly believes that nurturing the educational aspirations of young individuals is a key driver for future community success.
Applications for The Farmers Bank Business and Finance Studies Scholarship are now open at wwswef.org/scholarships. To qualify for the $1,000 scholarship, applicants must be enrolled or accepted at a two- or four-year accredited college or university, with preference given to those attending Indiana institutions. The student should have an area of study in finance, accounting, or business, and been an active participate in a high school student organization such as DECA, yearbook, or other business/accounting clubs. Application reviewers will consider character, financial need, and grade-point average, with preference given to those with a GPA of 2.8 or higher.
The $15,000 endowment established by The Farmers Bank is aimed at providing scholarships well into the future. For every new account at the new Westfield location, $100 will be donated to this endowment, up to $5,000 this calendar year. With continued community support, The Farmers Bank aspires to offer even more scholarships in the years to come.
The application deadline is midnight on April 11 via the Westfield Educational Foundation website. Scholarship recipients will be announced at the WHS Awards Banquet on May 28.
Westfield Financial Center Director Steve Latour expressed his excitement about the initiative.
