NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) – A community college student in New Bern will have the rare honor of graduating with a bachelor’s degree with no college debt.
Logan Tibbetts, a Phi Theta Kappa member and student with Craven Community College, was given two scholarships to attend NC State. He was one of fifty others awarded the Goodnight Scholarship and was also named the 2024 Coca-Cola Academic Silver Scholar through his honors society.
Tibbetts will be graduating from high school and the community college at the same time in May.
“As one of his PTK advisors, I am thrilled for Logan to gain recognition as both a Coca-Cola Silver Scholar and an NCSU Goodnight Scholar,” said Kathryn Amerson, the college’s PTK faculty advisor. “Logan is an exceptional servant leader. He has truly earned these scholarships as well as his place on the All-USA/Coca-Cola Academic Team.”
He will be majoring in computer engineering, according to the college.
“I hope to use this opportunity to focus more on giving back to my community and providing service to others,” said Tibbetts.
