LAKEWOOD, Ohio — Lakewood High School recently congratulated seniors Ceci Whiteamire, Adele Wentzel, Zach Carnovale, Alessio Matera and Cora Barcelona for being named semifinalists in the 71st annual National Merit Scholarship competition.
“The success of our semifinalists highlights not only their hard work, but also the collective support of their teachers, families and peers,” Lakewood High School Principal Joy Morgan said. “It’s a proud moment for the entire Lakewood community.
“These semifinalists show that Lakewood students can and do excel at the highest levels nationally. They’re an inspiration to their classmates and a point of pride for our district and community.”
The incredible honor places them among the top 1% of U.S. high school seniors, recognized for their outstanding PSAT performance as juniors.
Out of more than 1.3 million students nationwide, only 16,000 earned the prestigious distinction.
Lakewood High School also has a Commended Student in Abby Peck.
