CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Lee Corder and Brent Billingsley, both diagnosed with head and neck cancer, are determined to continue their mission of inspiring others despite their illnesses.
Corder, who created a culinary scholarship, spoke about why they decided to help others.
"We chose to look outward and help others, and it’s been a blessing," said Corder.
As a retired administrator at Butler Tech Career Center, Corder has long invested in others' lives. His scholarship aims to fund future chefs, fueled by his passion for cooking.
Billingsley, an artist known as Mysta B, supports Corder by sharing his creative gifts.
"I wanted him and his family to know that I love who he is and what he does," Billingsley said.
Recently, they held a fundraiser for the Lee Corder Culinary Scholarship, showcasing their resilience and commitment. Billingsley also painted a personal portrait of Corder, which Corder described as "really emotional for me." It’s part of the legacy of what we’re doing here, and I really feel like Brent was able to capture it."
Both survivors emphasize the importance of community support and encourage chefs and restaurant owners to contribute to the scholarship program.
They also welcome healing prayers from the community. Click here to donate to the Lee Corder Culinary Scholarship.
