The Coral Springs Craft Guild is awarding $1,750 in scholarships to local high school seniors, continuing its long-standing tradition of supporting young artists in the community.
This year, the Craft Guild will offer three scholarships: a $750 primary award and two $500 memorial scholarships each. The deadline for completed applications and artwork is Wednesday, April 24, 2024.
Known for its commitment to fostering artistic talent, the Craft Guild has contributed over $65,000 in scholarships over the past 40 years. This year’s scholarships are open to high school seniors who are either residents of Coral Springs or attend a high school in Coral Springs/Parkland.
Students do not need to be enrolled in an art class to be eligible. The Craft Guild encourages submissions from various art forms, including visual, graphic, and decorative arts, emphasizing the importance of originality in the students’ work.
In 2023, Madalen Erez won first place, and Sarah Salazar, who won the Michelle Pennetti Award, took second place.
Interested students can obtain applications through their school’s BRACE advisor or by contacting Stephanie Kraft, the Guild’s Scholarship Chair, at stephanie.kraft@att.net.
The Craft Guild has made provisions for the artwork to be collected from schools on this date and returned the following day. Homeschooled students can arrange alternative pickup locations for their submissions.
The Coral Springs Craft Guild, a 501(c)3 organization, comprises skilled crafters and artisans from various parts of Florida. Established 47 years ago, the Guild has been actively involved in community service, including conducting food drives, supporting homeless shelters, pet shelters, and the Ronald McDonald House, and offering free crafting classes in the community.
The scholarships are funded through raffles held during meetings and the annual Craft Show, as well as through donations from members.
