More than a dozen Cincinnati-area high school seniors will be awarded college scholarships thanks to the Anthony Muñoz Foundation.
The former Bengal’s foundation will host its annual Straight “A” Luncheon on April 30 at The Lempika, where Muñoz will award 18 Tri-State high school seniors a total of $42,000 in college scholarships.
The Straight “A” Luncheon recognizes and awards Tri-State area high school seniors that best demonstrate the Foundation’s definition of what it means to be a Straight “A” Student — pursuing academic excellence, accomplishing athletic achievement, showing a strong ambition all while playing an active role in the community, maintaining a winning attitude, and displaying the ability to overcome adversity.
Muñoz, along with Foundation partners and the student’s chosen most influential teachers, honored and recognized the recipients during the Luncheon.
From the 18 recipients, the Straight “A” Scholarship Male and Female Students of the Year will be chosen to receive an additional scholarship award.
“I think a lot of what we do at the Foundation stems from my upbringing and the things I’ve gone through. Being raised by a single mom — we didn’t have a whole lot, but we worked hard and were lucky enough to have people in our community who believed in us.” Muñoz said in a statement. “So, being able to honor young men and women that are choosing positive paths and achieving despite the adversity in their way; that’s what we want to do. Partners like Mike’s Carwash and the Cincinnati Bengals who believe in our mission and support these kids dreams, it’s what allows such a huge impact to be made.”
