GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Gillette College Foundation has announced the availability of commercial driver’s license scholarships for adult learners, veterans, and GED certificate holders.
According to a recent foundation press release, the scholarships are intended to support those interested in a career in the trucking industry who require a CDL to achieve their goals.
Scholarship funding comes through the Daniels Fund, which funds organizations supporting education, youth development and the elderly. The local scholarships cover the full cost of CDL training, including classroom instruction and hands-on training, with job placement assistance and career coaching to follow upon completion.
Per the foundation, the scholarships are open to any adult learner who meets the eligibility requirements set forth by the Daniels Fund.
“We are thrilled to offer these scholarships to adult learners in our community,” said Heidi Gross, foundation executive director. “The trucking industry is a critical part of our economy and local community, and these scholarships will enable individuals to gain the necessary skills and certifications to pursue a career in this field.”
Interested applicants can find more information about the CDL scholarships and eligibility requirements on the Gillette College Foundation website, according to the release, which says applications are being accepted immediately.
