HOWLAND TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – Some Trumbull County high school seniors were honored Friday at the Scholarship and Recognition Breakfast at the Avalon Country Club.
There were nearly $40,000 worth of scholarships awarded. About 40 seniors were given scholarships.
Kailey Ague, a senior in Liberty, won the Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award for her accomplishments. She said she’s thankful for the programs that were available to help her navigate college applications and more.
“I’ve worked so hard for this because I’m a first-generation college student, having parents at home who have never experienced applying to colleges and what it’s like — I was kind of on my own in that aspect. So, I just really took charge and wanted to make sure I was getting as much help from these different programs as I could,” Ague said.
Ague is staying local for college, heading to YSU in the fall.
Additionally, district-level Franklin B. Walter Award winners will receive $500 textbook scholarships.
