JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Rotary Club awarded scholarships Wednesday afternoon.
Hosted at First United Methodist Church, the club meeting recognized 11 outstanding Junior Rotarians from every Madison County high school.
They were given competitive scholarships totaling to $22,000.
The scholarship program is funded by an annual golf tournament fundraiser.
Junior Rotarians come from local private and public schools in Jackson-Madison County and are hosted by the Rotary Club throughout the school year.
“They come to our Rotary meetings. They get to network. They get to meet people that may be working in the field that they’re wishing to major in, so it’s just a really great experience,” said Melinda Reid, Jackson Rotary Club President. “It plants the seed for them to become Rotarians in the future.”
The Rotary Club also heard from the winners of their recent Rotary speech contest for high school students.
