MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Friends and family packed the Marquette Senior High School gymnasium Tuesday night, as 117 graduating seniors were awarded scholarships for their hard work.
MAPS Education Foundation President Linda Winslow said in total, $130,000 in scholarships were awarded.
Winslow added that scholarships are sponsored by the MAPS Education Foundation, Community Foundation of Marquette County, Marquette County service clubs, community members and businesses.
“It’s a broad range of scholarships,” Winslow explained. “The scholarship criteria have been written by the donors. So it’s everything from going into a vocational field to a university in the Upper Peninsula to a university outside of our state. It is open to anyone and everyone who is a graduating senior.”
Winslow said the MAPS Education Foundation is happy it could sponsor Tuesday’s event and is hopeful for students’ futures.
