ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WITN) – A foundation that helps out children of Marines and Navy corpsmen says it is giving a record number of scholarships this school year.
The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation has given out $11.7 million in scholarships to 3,000 children across the nation, including students from all 50 states.
They say this is the most ever awarded in one year, and they’ve been doing it for 60 years.
Those getting the scholarship are top-tier students, according to the foundation, holding an average GPA of 3.43, compared to 3.15 nationally, and all applicants that meet the requirements will receive a scholarship to further support their education.
