The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce Foundation has announced the recipients of its annual high school and collegiate scholarships: Claire Edelbrock of Eastwood High School and Aidan Peper of Bowling Green State University.
Edelbrock, a senior at Eastwood, is planning on attending BGSU this fall with a probable major of biology. She hopes to launch a career in law as a medical malpractice attorney. Through this career path, Edelbrock wants to continue to serve her community, which she already supports through her involvement with the Wood County Humane Society, various churches’ events, and the Pemberville American Legion. In addition to maintaining a 4.4 GPA, Edelbrock is involved in many extracurricular activities at Eastwood, including the varsity volleyball team, People, Inc., Key Club, and the National Honors Society. She also coached a youth volleyball camp at Eastwood and volunteered as a teacher’s aide and yard worker for several years.
Peper, a 4.0 GPA student and rising sophomore at BGSU, majors in music education. This will allow him to teach K-12 instrumental band upon graduation, but he also hopes to continue his education in saxophone performance and would like to land a spot playing the saxophone professionally—he is considering attending graduate school for a master’s degree in saxophone performance. Musical arts are very important to Peper, who is a member of the BG Area Community Band, BGSU Falcon Marching Band, BGSU Wind Symphony, Saxophone Club, and University Pit Orchestra. He is also a member of the Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association and a volunteer with the Music Plus program.
Edelbrock received her scholarship at Eastwood’s annual Academic Awards ceremony on May 9. Peper received his at the chamber office and was invited to the Annual Meeting Dinner and Awards to be recognized by the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Investors.
