LEOMINSTER — Members of the local chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America held a ceremony on May 14 at Carter Park to award scholarships to eight high school seniors.
The Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 116 awarded scholarships to Leominster seniors Lily Rice, Nina Marchetti, Alaina Garcia, Taylor Crowley, Sam Eichmann, Victoria Miele, Keaton St. Laurent, and Tyler Witzgall.
During the ceremony, each student was called up to shake the Veterans’ hands and receive their scholarships, which ranged from $700 to $1,000.
The local VVA also drew the tickets for the winners of the raffle during the ceremony. The profits from the raffle went towards the money awarded in the scholarships. After the ceremony, the students mingled with the Veterans over refreshments.
