JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Arkansas State University held its Convocation of Scholars for 2025, highlighting academic achievements and awarding annual scholarships to outstanding students.
Among those scholarships is the “Dick Clay ‘That’s Sport’ Scholarship.”
The scholarship was awarded to Riley Whisenhunt for the second year.
Whisenhunt is a sophomore Creative Media Production student and soccer player.
She said she was happy to be selected to receive the scholarship again, but highlighted the importance of sports media students having the opportunity to receive a scholarship like this one.
“It’s super important to have an opportunity like this. One day, someone else is gonna get this, and this could really help and boost confidence that you’re doing something right,” Whisenhunt said. “You never know where this is gonna take you, and it’s just really a boost of confidence.”
Creative Media Production instructor Dustin Sullivan said Whisenhunt has a bright future.
“Riley has a fantastic career ahead of her in sports media. Whether it be in front of the camera, behind the scenes,” Sullivan said.
Whisenhunt also said she plans to graduate early next year and continue to play soccer while she explores her options for graduate school.
