The South Coastal Delaware AARP Chapter 5226 will offer five scholarships in the spring of 2025 — to two seniors at Indian River High School (IRHS) in Dagsboro, and three to adult students who are 25 or older attending Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown.
The two $1.500 scholarships for IRHS students are based on academic record, extracurricular, community and work activities, and an essay related to students’ scholastic and career goals. Applications are available from the high school guidance counselor’s office. The deadline for the applications from IRHS students is Friday, Feb. 28. The scholarship recipients will be announced at the school’s awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 21.
The local AARP Chapter will award two $1,000 scholarships to nursing students at Del Tech and one $500 scholarship to a non-nursing student for the spring semester. For more information, students should contact the school’s Admissions & Financial Aid Office.
The South Coastal DE AARP Chapter — one of the largest AARP chapters in the United States with a membership of more than 400 members — offers programs of community outreach, advocacy, scholarships, travel, and a range of social and recreational activities for those in southeastern Sussex County.
