AAUW Kitchen Tour and Tasting will benefit Beaver County students. What to know – Beaver County Times
The 24th annual Kitchen Tour & Tasting, which benefits scholarships for local high school students, will take place between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Oct. 4 in Beaver and Brighton Township.
Sponsored by the American Association of University Women, Beaver Valley Branch, the tour features four kitchens in private homes. Guests will experience tasting foods prepared by local chefs at each site.
The tour begins at the Marketplace, a new venue this year, in the newly constructed IBEW, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 712 Hall at 217 Sassafrass Lane in Vanport Township. Patrons present their tickets and receive a tour booklet with information, including the location of the homes and information on the chefs.
Activities at the Marketplace include depositing door prize tickets, receiving a complimentary recipe booklet, chances on 50 auction baskets and a bake sale from the kitchen of AAUW members. Bargains can be found in the AAUW members’ spread of slightly used jewelry, purses and fashion accessories. Eleven specialty boutiques will feature women’s fashions, jewelry, cosmetics, handmade doll clothes, biscotti, honey, wood crafts, wreaths, blind date with a book and coming attractions at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center. Beaver County Blind Association will offer a vision screening and garden hand tools.
Los Gingos Tacos food truck will be on-site from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. or until sold out, offering their custom tacos and other favorites for lunch on your own.
The tour can be traveled in any order.
Proceeds from the tour support scholarships for Beaver County high school girls, non-traditional women students, law students and Community College of Beaver County students. Through the Beaver County community’s continued generosity and event participation, the Beaver Valley Branch of AAUW has awarded 104 scholarships in the amount of $158,000. Information about joining AAUW will be available at the Marketplace with a special reduced membership rate for women joining on Oct. 4.
Advance house tour tickets are $20 at The Hostess Shoppe, Beaver. Same-day house tour tickets are $25 at the IBEW Marketplace. Tickets will not be sold at the homes. For information, please call 724-846-4260, visit Facebook page @ BeaverValleyAAUW or http://beavervalley-pa.aauw.net/kitchentour.
