GRIFFIN — The Iris Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) is proud to announce the recipients of its 2025-2026 scholarships: Ayana Sanford, a student at Southern Crescent Technical College (Griffin Campus), and Takeisha Tippins, attending the University of Georgia (Griffin Campus).
These scholarships are part of the chapter’s ongoing commitment to empowering women through education and professional development. Since its founding in 1985, the Iris Chapter has awarded over $150,000 in scholarships to more than 50 deserving women, including high school seniors and non-traditional students returning to college[1].
“This is our major charitable focus, and we are proud of all the women we have assisted in reaching their educational goals,” said Wanda Cronic Howell, chair of the Scholarship Committee. “Ayana and Takeisha exemplify the drive and determination that ABWA seeks to support.”
The scholarship committee, led by Howell, includes dedicated members Rita Johnson, Kathleen Smith and Cynthia Reid-Ward, who worked diligently to select this year’s recipients.
The ABWA Iris Chapter continues to uphold the mission of the national organization: to bring together businesswomen of diverse occupations and provide opportunities for personal and professional growth through leadership, education, networking and national recognition.
For more information about the ABWA Iris Chapter or its scholarship program, please contact the chapter directly or visit www.abwa.org.
