Rural youth deserve the opportunity to dream big and pursue their goals. That is one of the impacts of the Alliance for College & Career Student Success (ACCSS) a collaborative program involving Blinn College District and Flatonia, Schulenburg, Weimar, Columbus, Moulton, and Fayetteville ISD’s.
ACCSS will host a 5K event being held in conjunction with the Schulenburg Sausage Festival on Saturday, April 5.
The race will wind through Schulenburg, beginning and ending near Prime Products on South Main Street. Runners, walkers, strollers and dogs are all welcome. Participants that sign up by March 15 are guaranteed a run shirt in the size they desire.
Athletes who wish to pre-register may sign up by going to https://sausagefest5k. itsyourrace. com/event.aspx?id=16164.
This link may also be found on the ACCSS website (www. myACCSS.net) under the fundraising tab or on the ACCSS Facebook page. In-person registration is available until 8:30 a.m. the morning of the race (+$5).
The run will be chip timed by Run Texas Timing Services. Medals will be distributed to the top three males and females in nine different age categories. The run will begin at 9 a.m. and awards will follow soon after the last runner crosses the finish line. Participants are encouraged to stay and enjoy a full day of food, fun and music up and down Main St. in Schulenburg.
