Alabama’s National Merit semifinalists: More than 230 students are on the list – AL.com

More than 230 Alabama high school students are semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Students from 60 Alabama high schools received a qualifying score on the Preliminary SAT to to become a National Merit Scholar semifinalist. Scroll down to see the list.
Schools with lots of semifinalists include Auburn High School, Homewood High School and Bob Jones High School in Huntsville.
About 3.6 million students took the PSAT in 2024, according to the College Board.
Finalists will be determined through scores and an essay.
Nationally, there are 16,000 semifinalists in the program to compete for more than 6,900 scholarships worth $26 million. About 95% of semifinalists will become finalists.
Winners will be announced April 2026.
