The Napa County Farm Bureau Foundation is accepting applications for the 2025 Aldo Delfino Memorial Scholarship, available to Napa County high school seniors pursuing a college degree in agriculture.
Each year, the foundation, in partnership with the JLD Ag Preservation Fund, awards scholarships to local students who plan to study agriculture at the collegiate level, according to a news release. The family of Aldo Delfino, the late Napa County agricultural commissioner, established the scholarship program in honor of his deep commitment to both education and supporting the agricultural community in Napa.
Since its establishment in 1981, the scholarship fund has received additional investment from Farm Bureau members and supporters, according to the news release.
Delfino’s legacy is rooted in his commitment to education and his passion for the agricultural industry, both locally and beyond. His work helped shape Napa County’s agricultural landscape, and the scholarship honors his dedication to the next generation of farming professionals, according to the Farm Bureau foundation. The scholarship is designed to help local students pursue a college education in agriculture, with the ultimate goal of encouraging them to return to Napa County and contribute to its renowned agricultural industry.
The foundation said it views the scholarship as an essential tool for cultivating the future of Napa Valley’s agriculture.
“In a region known for its world-class agriculture, the foundation is focused on ensuring that the next generation of ag professionals is well-prepared to face the challenges and opportunities in the sector,” the foundation said in the news release.
Through the scholarship program, the Farm Bureau foundation has awarded $70,000 in scholarship funds to eligible students in the last three years.
Through financial assistance and encouragement, the foundation said it hopes to inspire scholarship recipients to become leaders who will continue to build on Napa County’s rich agricultural legacy. Fields of study eligible for the scholarship include crop science, viticulture, animal science, environmental management, and other farming-related disciplines.
High school seniors interested in pursuing agricultural studies are encouraged to apply online at napafarmbureau.org/foundation. The application deadline is Friday, April 4.
