Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s Eta Nu Omega Chapter of San Bernardino and Riverside counties presented scholarships to graduating high school seniors at its annual Graduate Recognition Scholarship Brunch held in June at the Sierra Lakes Golf Club in Fontana.
At the event, the chapter also presented a community service award to Joshlyn Pulliam, a judge of the Superior Court of Riverside County, and an educational leadership community service award to Jamal Myrick of UC Riverside.
Daima Calhoun, chief deputy district attorney of Riverside County, gave the keynote address, encouraging the scholarship recipients to work hard, dream big and not be afraid of failure, according to a news release.

The Eta Nu Omega Chapter and the Inland Ivy Foundation awarded $34,000 in scholarships to students from San Bernardino County and Riverside County. In addition to those scholarships, there were specialized scholarships awarded, including six in memory of loved ones of Eta Nu Omega Chapter members. The memorial scholarships honored Lisa Blacksher, Gracie Mae Poole, Harriette Moore, Keturah McEwen, Hazel Hawkins-Russell and Irma L. Sutton, according to the news release.
Also awarded were Honey Do scholarships, in the names of spouses of the women of Eta Nu Omega Chapter, and four HBCU (Historically Black College and Universities) scholarships.
Scholarship recipients attending the brunch included Amaya McCullough, Grace Rivero, Zoriyah Brooks, Austin Dixon and Kenneth Jones, all of John W. North High School, Riverside; Meah Van Dunk, Academy of Innovation, Corona; Holly Pulley, Riverside Polytechnic High School; Lea Allen, Martin Luther King High School, Riverside; Jayla Coulter, Perris High School; and Cameron Green, Orange Vista High School, Perris.
Other scholarship recipients at the event were Chaise Jordon, Beaumont High School; Aislyn Carter, San Jacinto High School; Kiera Black, Desert Hot Springs High School; Christina Vaughner and Jordin Ware, both of Cajon High School, San Bernardino; Dorian Synclaire-Emamuel, Excelsior High School, San Bernardino; Jalanie McMillion, Etiwanda High School, Rancho Cucamonga; Aaiyara Miller, Granite Hills High School, Apple Valley; and Anastasia Wallace, Mojave High School, Hesperia.
The Eta Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. was chartered in 1961 in Rialto and serves communities in San Bernardino County and Riverside County.
