On Saturday evening, the men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. – Alpha Sigma Lambda Chapter hosted their annual C.C. Russeau Old Gold & Black Scholarship Gala, celebrating scholarship, leadership, and service in the heart of Dallas. The black-tie event brought together civic leaders, business professionals, and community advocates for an evening that embodied the fraternity’s enduring mission — “First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All.”
Held at the Hilton Anatole, the gala shimmered in Old Gold and Black, offering not only elegance but purpose — raising critical scholarship funds for Dallas-area students while honoring the men and women who continue to lead with distinction across education, faith, and community development.

The gala is named in tribute to Brother C.C. Russeau, a visionary educator and Alpha man whose legacy continues to shape the trajectory of educational excellence in Dallas. Each year, Alpha Sigma Lambda carries that legacy forward by investing in the next generation of scholars through its Russeau Scholarship Fund — a testament to the chapter’s nearly 90-year tradition of service and civic leadership.

Among the evening’s esteemed attendees was Texas State Senator Royce West, a longtime champion for educational equity and youth empowerment in North Texas. Also in attendance was Brother and State Representative Venton Jones from District 100. Their presence underscored the fraternity’s deep connection to civic engagement and public service.
Guests also included community leaders, clergy, and members of the Divine Nine, each joining in celebration of a legacy that continues to inspire generations of Dallas changemakers.

Each honoree’s story reflected the chapter’s mission to recognize not just success, but service — those who lead with purpose and uplift the communities around them.
The evening’s success was made possible by the generous support of its sponsors, including Sewell Automotive Companies, Representative Toni Rose, Judge Dominique Torres and other local partners whose investments help fund scholarships and expand Alpha Sigma Lambda’s reach across Dallas.
Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed live entertainment, a seated dinner, and moments of reflection honoring the fraternity’s Omega Chapter brothers, whose legacy continues to guide the mission of Alpha Phi Alpha.
As the night drew to a close, the brothers of Alpha Sigma Lambda joined arm-in-arm, singing the Alpha Hymn, filling the ballroom with a sense of pride and purpose that transcended generations.
“This isn’t just an event,” one brother shared. “It’s a living tradition — one that reminds us that our greatest work is not in what we achieve, but in what we give.”
Chartered in Dallas, TX November 5, 1932, the Alpha Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. has been a cornerstone of leadership and community service in Dallas for nearly nine decades. Through scholarship, mentorship, and advocacy, the chapter continues to uphold the fraternity’s founding principles of Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for All Mankind.
