Coleman-Isgate Post 293 of The American Legion invites high school students from Rusk, Alto and Wells — including private and homeschool students — to participate in the 2026 American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program. The announcement was made by Post Commander Terry McPherson.
The annual contest is open to Southern Cherokee County students and will be organized in cooperation with local schools and faculty. Contestants will prepare an original eight to 10-minute speech on a topic related to the U.S. Constitution, with emphasis on the duties and obligations of American citizens.
