American Royal partners with Hy-Vee, Zarda to support scholarships on National Burnt Ends Day – KCTV
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Monday marks a federal holiday — Labor Day. It is also a holiday of sorts for Kansas City!
The American Royal, Hy-Vee and Zarda Bar-B-Q are celebrating National Burnt Ends Day on Sept. 1, 2025, to support scholarships, offering a $10 sandwich at all Kansas City-area Hy-Vee stores and both Zarda Bar-B-Q locations.
“National Burnt Ends Day is more than just a tasty celebration—it is a way to connect Kansas City’s love of barbecue with the future of agriculture,” American Royal communications director Allysa King said in a release. “When you buy a burnt ends sandwich on September 1, you are not just enjoying one of KC’s favorite flavors. You are also helping us invest in supporting the next generation of agricultural leaders.”
This year marks the fifth year of celebrating the local tradition.
Academic and leadership scholarships supported by the American Royal include the Royal Scholars Program and Veterinary Scholars Program. All students are pursuing agriculture, food, natural resources or veterinary degrees and demonstrate academic and leadership excellence in their schools and communities.
