SUMMIT GARDEN CLUB NEWS RELEASE
The Summit Garden Club is honored to award the 2025 Pat Edmonds and Sue Graves Memorial Scholarship to Annabelle Rosette. We are amazed at Annabelle’s achievements in environmental conservation:
1) preparing nesting site for turtles in Costa Rica,
2) removing invasive plants for Agami Heron nesting grounds [the Agami Heron is listed as a near-threatened species], and
3) planning and leading the conservation project “How the Nest Material/Size/Location of Vesper Sparrows Affects Survival Rate of Nestlings.”
Annabelle graduated from Los Alamos High School with the class of 2025. She is attending the University of New Mexico and plans to study international relations with a focus on environmental sustainability, global warming, and global health.
“I hope that by pursuing this degree and eventually going to law school, I will be able to fight for those who do not have a voice,” she said.
Annabelle’s goals fit well with the Club’s focus for this scholarship.
The Club was founded in 1960 and continues 65 years later with service projects at the Bandelier National Monument’s historic gardens, the White Rock Community Garden, and pop up projects such as the new east garden area at Los Alamos Medical Center last year.
