The Youth Education Scholarship Golf Tournament will return for its 35th annual event on June 5 at Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club.
Each year, the tournament raises money for scholarships given to graduating Routt County high school seniors who are continuing their education. This will also be the third consecutive year the event will help students at the Colorado Mountain College’s campus in Steamboat Springs with scholarships.
The tournament is being hosted by the Young Professionals Network and the Steamboat Springs Chamber. Angelica Salinas, YPN board member and lead of the Y.E.S. golf committee, said the event has granted around $13,000 for scholarships in each of the past three years, with $10,000 of that going to Routt County high school graduates and the remaining money going to CMC students.
The six 2024 high school scholarship winners have been selected:
“The Young Professionals Network is proud to host the Y.E.S. Golf Tournament again for the 35th year,” Salinas said. “Part of our mission is to empower the next generation of leaders through philanthropy. Being able to give back to Routt County seniors and CMC students and seeing our community come together through this event is really special for us.”
The tournament is a mixed scramble format with teams consisting of four golfers. No handicap is required, but teams may not have more than two players with handicaps of 12 or less.
Check-in will begin at 10 a.m. with the first tee in the shotgun start taking place at 11 a.m. There will be networking opportunities beginning at 9 a.m. until the first tee, and a prize drawing will run after the rounds conclude. Swag bags are being provided by the tournament sponsors, and food and drinks will be offered following play.
There are still multiple spots available for team registration. Teams of four can visit SteamboatChamber.com and register through the Y.E.S. Golf Tournament option under the page’s “Events” tab, or visit Tinyurl.com/5du9v4yz.
Individuals who wish to register without a full team should email angelica@steamboatchamber.com for more information.
“This is the biggest event that we do locally, and we are super excited to continue it,” Salinas said. “We feel this fits really well with YPN’s vision and mission. YPN’s mission is to empower the next generation of leaders in our community, so this is a really great way for us to give back to that next generation.”
