ā€œThe U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program (Gilman Program) supports students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, providing them with skills critical to our national security and economic prosperity,ā€ the Gilman website reads.
Preference will be given to veterans of military service and students who have not previously studied abroad, as well as students looking to study or intern in countries that are less common to study in amongst U.S students.Ā
Students who are the child dependent of an active duty service member may also apply for the Gilman-McCain Scholarship.
