Applications are now being accepted for 2025-26 educational scholarships from Indiana Donor Network Foundation.
Indiana Donor Network Foundation established its scholarship fund in 2005 to provide educational financial support for the pursuit of higher or continued education to immediate family members of Indiana residents who were organ, tissue and cornea donors in addition to living donors, organ transplant recipients and Hoosiers waiting for lifesaving transplants.
Indiana Donor Network is the federally designated organ recovery organization that coordinates organ, tissue and cornea donation in Indiana and transplantation throughout the U.S. Its Foundation was formed in 1997 when family members and friends of donors and transplant recipients began making memorial and honorary contributions to Indiana Donor Network.
Today, the Foundation proactively raises funds to support families of donors and transplant recipients through contributions from Indiana Donor Network employees, the general public and various funds, programs and special events.
Applications for 2025-26 scholarships must be received online by midnight March 17. Interested candidates can apply at indianadonornetwork.org/scholarships. Eligible recipients will be chosen and notified in May. Applicants with questions about eligibility criteria or the application process can call 888.275.4676 (option 4).
Through scholarships, selected recipients help further public education about organ, tissue and cornea donation and transplantation during and after their academic endeavors.
Last year’s recipients included Martha Hunter Carmel ($8,000), Edith Estridge of Chesterton ($6,500), Katherine Gaff of Syracuse and Halle Mitchell of Jacksonville, Florida ($5,000 each) and Eric Casad of Terre Haute ($2,000).
In the past five years, Indiana Donor Network Foundation has awarded $114,000 in scholarships.
Despite age or medical history, anyone can sign up to be a donor at DonateLifeIndiana.org. Click here to learn more about Indiana Donor Network.
