Students enrolled in NESA-accredited initial teacher education programs in NSW are encouraged to apply for Federation’s Future Teacher Scholarships.
The scholarships are part of Federation’s ongoing commitment to the teaching profession in public schools and are one of the many ways Federation supports its student members.
Awardees can use their $4000 scholarship to help with educational expenses directly related to their teacher training, such as a laptop, textbooks, computer software and stationery.
A former scholarship recipient said that while the scholarship was helpful in easing financial strain during her practicum, there were other benefits. “The scholarship helped me gain recognition at several schools and allowed me, as a new teacher, to feel more confident to engage in experienced teacher networks and during school union meetings.”
Federation student members (studying full or part time) may apply for a Future Teacher Scholarship. Not a member? Student membership of the union is free; click here to join.
Federation’s Future Teacher Scholarships Committee will award up to 15 scholarships to successful applicants across the following categories:
One scholarship will be awarded to an applicant who demonstrates a strong commitment to the environment and social justice causes, in memory of the late John Kaye.
Applicants may nominate for more than one category of scholarship in their application, if appropriate.
Past scholarship recipients have proudly attended public schools and demonstrated a strong desire and commitment to work in the public education system.
Applications will close at 4pm Wednesday 30 May
