STATEWIDE–The Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship Application is now open to high school seniors and college students looking to pursue a career in teaching.
It’s for $10,000 per year and it’s available for up to four academic years for students who commit to teaching in Indiana for at least five years.
State Representative Michelle Davis of Whiteland says in the last year, after a record number of applications, Indiana awarded over 300 scholarships with applications from 89 of the 92 counties.
“Teachers play a major role in inspiring and encouraging the next generation of Hoosiers. With a scholarship like this, students can pursue their passion for teaching and without some of the financial stress,” said Davis.
Applicants have to graduate in the top 20% of their high school graduating class, have a top 20% ACT of SAT score, or have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
“This Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship is such a unique opportunity for Indiana to invest in our future teachers. I encourage any interested student to apply today,” said State Representative Jake Teshka of North Liberty.
You can find applications at scholartrack.che.in.gov. through January 31.
