NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — NebraskaLand Bank has announced that applications are now open for NebraskaLand University (NLU), a financial literacy scholarship program designed for high school seniors. This free, six-course program aims to equip students with vital life skills, including budgeting, savings, credit management, loan basics, career development, identity theft protection and strategies for paying for college.
The program, which combines expert-led instruction with a curriculum developed by senior and executive officers at NebraskaLand Bank, has awarded approximately $110,000 in scholarships to 373 local high school graduates since its inception in 2014.
High school seniors in North Platte and surrounding areas are encouraged to apply for the upcoming session. To qualify for the NLU Scholarship, students must complete all six courses and participate in a competitive capstone essay contest judged by a bank committee. The top three essays will earn $1,000, $750 and $500 academic scholarships, respectively. All program graduates will receive a $250 academic scholarship provided by NebraskaLand Bank.
Interested students should apply by the deadline of Sept. 8, 2025. With limited class sizes, spots are expected to fill quickly. Applications are available online at www.NebraskaLandUniversity.com.
