TINLEY PARK, IL — Applications are being accepted for a scholarship in honor of a long-time Tinley Park commissioner who was known for her volunteerism.
The Village is once again offering the Reta Brudd Scholarship program, which consists of five, $1,000 scholarships for graduating high school seniors who are residents of Tinley Park, who will receive a diploma in the spring, and who will attend an accredited college, university, business college, vocational school or trade school in the fall.
The program is named in honor of Reta Brudd, who served as a commissioner for 46 years until her passing in April 2019. She contributed more than 20,000 hours of volunteer work and received many recognitions and awards, including a Life Achievement Award from the Tinley Park Chamber of Commerce.
Final selection will be based, in part, on the applicant’s having provided outstanding service to the community, in addition to his/her participation in the classroom. The scholarship may be applied toward tuition, room and board, or books (the check will be payable to the recipient’s school).
Applications are available online, from your local high school guidance counselor, or in limited quantities at Tinley Park Village Hall. Applications should be sent back to Village Hall and postmarked no later than March 1. Late applications will not be accepted.
For more information, call Village Hall at (708) 444-5000.
