The scholarship applications are due Wednesday, Nov. 12.
Oregon City’s Elks Lodge 1189 announced that applications for the local and national Most Valuable Student contests are now open.
The Oregon City Elks offer $12,000 scholarships to six local high school students each year. Oregon Elks also offer a $2,000 grant for students pursuing a vocational technical trade career.
The Elks National Foundation awards 500 four-year scholarships for students across the country based on academics and leadership. These scholarships have helped students from around the United States in financial need make their college education a reality.
National Elks scholarships range from $1,000-$7,500 per year based upon need. These are for high school seniors pursuing a four-year degree, full-time at a U.S. college or university starting in the 2026-27 school year.
Applicants for the national scholarships from the Oregon City area are considered for the six local awards as well.
Applicants must be current high school seniors who are U.S. citizens. They do not need to be related to a member of the Elks. Scholarships are given competitively to male and female candidates separately. For more information and applications visit the MVS website.
Local applicants should choose Oregon City Lodge 1189 as their sponsoring lodge for the national awards.
For children and grandchildren of dues-paying Elks members, information about the national legacy scholarships is available online at enf.elks.org/Leg.
