Areté is a concept that Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle discussed. It refers to the actualization of one’s highest sense of self with moral excellence of character, regardless of one’s circumstances or the adversities that one is likely to face on the path to greatness. Successful scholarship applicants will embody the meaning of Areté, distinguishing themselves as New Jerseyans on their way to realizing their dreams. They must demonstrate academic engagement, moral character and a commitment to their community.
Four $5,000 Scholarships will be awarded to New Jersey seniors graduating in 2025. Scholarship recipients will be recognized at the 2025 New Jersey Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, invited to visit The New Jersey Hall of Fame at American Dream, and receive additional NJ-themed prizes.
