Video above: Lawmakers advance education bills (March 2025)
The Arkansas Department of Education has created a website on the state’s new education legislation.
The website can be found at https://access.ade.arkansas.gov/
The site describes the different ways the Arkansas ACCESS law changes education. It has a section for each of the categories that make up the ACCESS acronym: Acceleration, Common Sense, Cost, Eligibility, Scholarships, and Standardization.
Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed the 123-page bill into law in March.
The law is meant to increase opportunities and outcomes for people seeking a college degree, certification, or professional license.
The bill seeks to reorganize and reduce leadership roles for many state education boards and committees.
The Arkansas Education Association, the largest teachers union in the state, opposed the bill.
