The Arlington Heights Garden Club is pleased to announce three scholarship recipients for 2024. Each of the three students will receive $2,000 to pursue studies in horticulture, environmental studies, landscape architecture or and other related fields.
The money for these scholarships comes from the proceeds of the Arlington Heights Garden Club’s plant sale and garden walk held yearly in June.
Applications for 2025 scholarships will be available Jan. 1, 2025, on the club’s website, www.ahgardenclub.com.

This year’s three recipients are:
Etienne Sirois, is a graduate of Prospect High School and will begin his third year at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, majoring in landscape architecture. This summer, he is a landscape design intern at Gary R Weber Associates, Inc., in Wheaton. He is enjoying the hands-on experience and opportunities to work with other landscape architects on projects. This is his third year as an Arlington Heights Garden Club scholarship recipient.
Mason Zimmer, who graduated this year from Prospect High School and will be attending Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he will be studying marine biology, environmental studies and costal management.
Elise Slowinski is the recipient of the Wendy Landwehr scholarship which is administered by the Arlington Heights Garden Club for Marty Landwehr. Elise is a graduate of John Hersey High School and is attending University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she is a junior in the college of engineering with focus in energy and environmental sustainability. This is Elise’s second year as a recipient of a garden club scholarship. The Wendy Landwehr scholarship is to honor garden club member Wendy Landwehr who was a Master Gardener. She was an engineer and enjoyed volunteering at the Chicago Botanic Garden.
