The recent Achieving Artists High School Scholarship Art Contest at Avondale Civic Center Library showcased the creativity of graduating high school seniors. Founded in 2011, the event aims to recognize and support the artistic pursuits of young individuals in the community.
The exhibit featured a diverse range of mediums and styles, including paintings and photographs. The winners are:
• First place: Nayel Garcia for “Baby Mila.”
• Second place (tie): Lilyana Vera for “Magical Glass Making” and Aisha Ramirez Chavez for “Self Portrait.”
• Third place: Makai Troupe for “Machine Girl.”
These artists received recognition for their work and scholarships for their college education, as support of the Avondale Municipal Art Committee.
“The Achieving Artists High School Scholarship Art Contest is a testament to the thriving arts community in Avondale and its commitment to nurturing young talent,” Avondale Mayor Kenn Weise said. “We congratulate all participants on their achievements and wish them success in their future endeavors.”
