The Artists Association of Nantucket (AAN) has announced the recipients of its annual AAN Scholarship and the Rebecca Houser Westcott Memorial Scholarship.
“We are proud to celebrate the creativity of these talented Nantucket art students and to honor both their remarkable work and the promising paths ahead of them,” said AAN executive director Tracey Sears.
“These incredible young artists have poured passion and hard work into their creations. AAN is thrilled to be a part of their artistic growth and education,” added Elizabeth Buccino, AAN Director of Education.
Only students graduating from Nantucket High School or or alumni were eligible for the scholarships.
The scholarships were awarded to the following students:
AAN Scholarship ($500):
Alice O’Banion (NHS 2023), a rising sophomore at Savannah College of Art and Design interested in painting, drawing, and sewing
Julia Newman (NHS 2013), a ceramic artist currently attending the School of Visual Arts in New York City to obtain her MA in Teaching Art Education
Rebecca Houser Westcott Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)
Evelyn Fey (NHS 2022), a rising senior at College of the Holy Cross, inspired by the classical art of her semester abroad in Athens.
