Rebecca Faulkner, Sarah Faulkner, Steven Faulkner and Susan Strain
Sarah Faulkner, the Ascension Republican Women Nominee, is the 2024 winner of the Ginny Martinez $1500 Scholarship. The award was presented at the Louisiana Federation of Republican Women 36th Biennial Convention in Natchitoches, LA in October. The LFRW President, Roby Dyer, the National Federation of Republican Women President, Julie Harris and the NFRW 1st V.P. Martha Jenkins were in attendance at the presentation.
Sarah, daughter of Steven and Rebecca Faulkner of Prairieville, is a 2024 graduate of St. Amant HS. She is currently enrolled at LSU, majoring in Political Science with a minor in Criminology. Her future plans include Law School.

The purpose of the Martinez Scholarship is to encourage and aid female college students to reach their highest potential by providing financial assistance to aid them in furthering their education. It is awarded biannually at the LFRW State Convention. Applicants are nominated by member clubs throughout the state. Susan Strain of Professional RW of St. Tammany is the current Ginny Martinez Scholarship Chair.
The Martinez Scholarship was created by the late Greta Jones of Monroe to honor Ginny Martinez for her many contributions toward the successes of the Republican Party of Louisiana, the Louisiana Federation of Republican Women (LFRW), the Republican National Committee (RNC), and the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW). Ginny encouraged women to become and stay actively involved in politics. For many years she served as Louisiana’s Republican National Committeewoman.
