BETTENDORF, Iowa. (KWQC) – 11 students received scholarships from Ascentra Credit Union to go towards furthering their education.
According to a media release, students received $1,000 each to get one step closer to achieving their academic and professional goals.
“With the rising costs in post-secondary education, it’s more important than ever for employers to get involved in helping tomorrow’s workforce to have a more financially stable start to their careers,” Linda Andry, the President and CEO of Ascentra Credit Union said.
Five scholarships were awarded to traditional high school students planning to enter college.
Five others were awarded to non-traditional students aged 19 or over planning to attend college or earn an advanced degree.
One scholarship was awarded to a student planning to enter a trade program.
“Ascentra is honored to be a part of these students’ futures and to help them reach their post-secondary goals,” Andry said.
The Ascentra Scholarship Proram began in 1997 and has now awarded $150,000 in scholarships since its inception, the release said.
