Astronaut Scholarship Foundation Appoints Colleen Middlebrooks as New Executive Director – Space Coast Daily

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — After an extensive nationwide search, the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation announced the appointment of Colleen Middlebrooks as its new Executive Director, effective July 30.
Middlebrooks brings more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and development.
She joins the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation from the Astronauts Memorial Foundation, where she most recently served as Vice President of Development.
Her career has been marked by a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and a deep commitment to honoring the legacy of America’s space pioneers.
“We are thrilled to welcome Colleen Middlebrooks to the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation,” the organization said in a statement. “Her proven track record in nonprofit leadership, coupled with her dedication to space exploration and STEM advancement, makes her the ideal person to guide ASF into its next chapter.”
In her new role, Middlebrooks will lead ASF’s mission to support and promote the next generation of American innovators in STEM fields through scholarships, mentorships, and industry connections. The Foundation, founded by the Mercury 7 astronauts in 1984, has awarded over $8 million in scholarships to more than 750 college students to date.
Middlebrooks expressed her excitement about joining ASF, stating, “It’s an honor to be entrusted with the legacy of America’s space heroes and to help cultivate the brilliance of future STEM leaders. I look forward to building on ASF’s strong foundation and expanding its reach and impact.”
She succeeds the outgoing Executive Director, who helped lead ASF through a period of growth and expansion. The organization looks forward to a seamless transition and continued momentum under Middlebrooks’ leadership.
